Summer Leg Boot Camp

The official day of summer hit us all but three days ago and with it comes the implicit obligation that its now time to make the wardrobe switch. Hello shorts, hello skirts and dress and hello LEGS.

If you’re anything like us, chances are you’ve left your faux glow preparation to the last minute and are less than prepared to get the pins out at short notice. Fret not friends, and follow our foolproof guide to transforming your paper whites into bronzed perfection is just three days flat.

Day One

Morning

A session of serious exfoliation is your first stop. Out with the old and in with the new. In the evening, get sloughing at any leftover dead skin with a sugar based scrub. Apply generously, and work your way up from toes to hips, moving in circular motions to get the circulation in the legs pumping as you go.

Evening

Get your legs waxed. The start of summer is optimum time to get your legs waxed, especially if your shaving has fallen slightly off the wagon during winter. Waxing removes a good layer of dead, dry winter skin so it’s the perfect preparation for soft, sexy legs to follow. For 24 hours following your wax, avoid any moisturisers or self tanners to avoid excess heat and sweating.

Day two

Morning:

Begin the day by lathering up your newly smooth legs in coconut oil and let them drink up the moisurising goodness.

Evening:

After showering, ensure legs are fully dried before embarking on your first layer of summer, aka the tan. Eco Tan’s Invisible Skin (or Winter Skin for fairer skin) is the perfect product to start building your summer base. The trick to an even, natural looking tan is to layer the colour over several days, building the desired colour rather than trying to apply in one go. It also allows for a much more accurate application, and means you can fix up any patches much easier.

Day Three

Evening

Hello hydrated and tanned legs! A wet glide over your legs with the Eco Tan extreme exfoliating mitt (or a similar trick is to give legs a very light buff from heel to hip with a fine sugar scrub) will remove any excess tan or patches. Follow with a second layer of Eco Tan. Top up your tan as required every second or third day but always preceded your tan with a deep exfoliation.

Top tip:

Legs, meet body brush. A quick dry brush followed by a light body moisturiser or virgin coconut oil will give help you maintain a silky finish. Body brushing works to combat some serious situations such as poor circulation (cellulite!), skin dimpling, removing dead skin and helping to remove harmful toxins from the skin. Brush dry, and apply firm (but not skin shredding) long strokes from top to toe. Don’t forget areas like the inner thigh for assisting with lymph drainage.  Follow your session with a light moisturiser, like REN Grapefruit and Neroli body moisturiser.
